PRACTICAL PREPARATION FIRST
Grab bag: pack for a safe departure
A small bag should support an organised departure, not encourage leaving home unnecessarily.
Your first checks
- Choose where family members would go if authorities advise evacuation.
- Check accessible copies of important contacts, essential documents and individual care needs.
- Prepare appropriate items for children, pets, weather and transport.
- Test that the bag can be carried comfortably and kept ready without obstructing exits.
